More than a hundred volunteers
The second edition of the Ecological and Solidarity Walk in Monsanto Park brought together more than a hundred volunteers with the aim of collecting garbage deposited along the trails and donating goods to the Chão dos Bichos animal shelter.
This initiative by the Trilhos do Costume Association in partnership with the Alcântara Parish Council, designed to promote physical activity while raising awareness of environmental protection, brought together around 150 volunteers on the morning of November 1st in the Monsanto Forest Park. Despite the cold and rainy weather, these brave volunteers didn’t want to miss out and were accompanied by their families and even some pets!
Caring for the environment, in a civic action with physical activity and healthy socializing
The organization of the walk listed 6 possible routes, of around two hours’ duration and varying levels of difficulty, for participants to hunt down any garbage they found on the trails that could be collected for recycling. Through this healthy socializing activity, everyone enjoyed an active morning and collaborated in a civic action to clean up Monsanto Forest Park, an emblematic highlight of the city of Lisbon.
In addition to the main objective of cleaning up the woods in Monsanto Forest Park, various goods were also collected, such as blankets, dry and wet rations to donate to the Chão dos Bichos Association.
The growing concern with environmental sustainability is transversal to Portuguese society and shared by Cateringpor. The company is therefore proud to support civic participation initiatives that promote environmental conservation and physical activity. So it was with great satisfaction and pride that Cateringpor supported this initiative, making its presence felt through some volunteers and donating snacks for everyone, as well as a basket of products that was raffled off at the end of the meeting.
